This August a new version of classic Sci-fi Thriller Movie Invasion of the Body Snatcher is releases to compete in summer movies arena. It was reminded me several years ago when The War of the World is remaking too.
The Invasion is starring by Oscar winner Nicole Kidman as psychiatrist Carol Bennell and the new Bond, Daniel Craig as her colleague Ben Driscoll. They were investigates the cause of a mysterious epidemic after a strange space shuttle crashes on earth. This new virus is attacks its victims while they sleep, leaving them physically unchanged but strangely unfeeling and inhuman. As the infection spreads, fewer people can be trusted.
Carol begins to believe that aliens may be responsible for the transformation she sees around her, and now she's only hope is to stay awake long enough to find and protect her son, who may hold the key to stopping the devastating invasion.
When watching this movie we are taking to journey a world where the only way to stay alive is to stay awake. And this nightmare begins to visit the theatres on August 17th. Warner Bros Pictures hired director Olivier Hirschbiegel to helm the project, based on the script by Dave Kaiganich, who crafted a different enough story from the original novel The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney, for the studio to see the project as an original conception.
Some Facts of the Invasion: Nicole Kidman was injured on the set when filming a scene in which she was trying to knock zombie-like creatures off of her car, but none of the injuries were major and Kidman was able to return for work after a few hours rest.
The movie title that was shortened to Invasion was changed to The Visiting so it would not to be confused with ABC's TV series Invasion. But in october 2006, it was changed again to the title of The Invasion, due to the cancellation of the TV series with a similar name.
About the Author
It was the fourth movies that based on Jack Finney's novel, The Body Snatchers. Earlier versions is "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956 & 1978), and "Body Snatchers" (1993). Even the screenwriter said that this new version will be different in concept of story between the previous movies. And it was reminded me again when Steven Spielberg said the new "War of the World" that he will made will be different with the original movie.But remake is still remake, it's up to us as the audiences to appraise how different will be this movie then. So get ready to face for THE INVASION, and don't you dare to sleep!
